About Asylum Industries =ASY=

Asylum Industries was officially formed in 2003, and is based in the UK.
The founders (TenaciousD, gav and jof) decided that after many years of playing Battlefield 1942 , Wolfenstein, Unreal Tournament and many other FPS (First Person Shooter) titles it was time to form our own clan. Prior to forming the BF1942 clan the 3 of us played the MMORPG Eve Online. This is where the name Asylum Industries and the 3-letter tag ASY originated. Before this time we were regular players of both online and LAN FPS titles.

Initially the server was run and funded by TenaciousD, gav and jof for a period of 2 years. This became impractical and we now operate through a contributions system. It is now required that all full ASY members contribute £5 per month to cover our costs.

Our goal in forming the clan, was ultimately to acquire enough members to be able to compete in online leagues. While competing in leagues is something we originally wanted to achieve, our main purpose has remained unchanged: to be able to run our clan so players can enjoy the game without the pressure or seriousness of other clans.
We want members to want to play with the rest of the clan because they enjoy it and like the atmosphere. We do not want members to feel pressured into committing all of their time and efforts in the clan or in leagues.

We are expanding all the time looking for new ways to improve the clan.
We recruit new members on the basis that we get on well with them and have a good time playing together. We like to take a bit of time to get to know new applicants and be sure that both parties get on together.

We are after players who don't take themselves too seriously – we want to enjoy ourselves online and hope that you do too.
